Our Curriculum Vision
"I came so that they could have life - indeed so that they can live to the fullest" John 10:10
At Beedon CE Primary, our knowledge rich curriculum is coherently planned and sequenced to enhance long term memory through meaningful learning experiences. Our Christian vision and values underpin all that we do.
Metacognition and self-reflection skills are at the heart of our curriculum. Our children understand how they learn: they are able to take risks, are ambitious, accept new challenges and see mistakes as part of learning.
* SERVICE * FRIENDSHIP * PERSEVERANCE * HOPE * FORGIVENESS * RESPECT *
At Beedon CE Primary School, we follow a carefully sequenced knowledge rich curriculum on a 2 year rolling cycle which helps us to secure our knowledge, understanding and skills in each subject area. Our children experience the full range of subjects offered in the National Curriculum and learning is enriched by practical activities, visits and visitors which help make learning memorable. We use the Cornerstones Knowledge Rich Projects as a tool to support teachers' planning and subject knowledge. We follow the Pan Berkshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Wherever possible,meaningful links are made between subjects so that we can practise our Maths and Literacy skills independently. Phonics is taught daily from our children's first days in Reception. We use Read, Write Inc as our scheme of work because it is structured and leads to great progress. In 2018 and 2020, 100% of our children passed their phonics screening test in Year 1. 100% of pupils have passed by the end of year 2 for the last 4 years.
Curriculum information is shared with our parents and carers on our Class Dojo pages.
Our children say learning at Beedon is great fun.
